September 2026 marks a critical month for UAE businesses, with the corporate tax return filing deadline for December year-end companies falling on September 30 and a concentrated schedule of major trade exhibitions at Dubai World Trade Centre driving commercial activity across multiple sectors.

Under the UAE’s nine-month filing rule, September 30, 2026, is the corporate tax return and payment deadline for businesses whose financial year ended on December 31, 2025. The tax return and payment must be submitted through the Federal Tax Authority’s EmaraTax portal, with penalties applying for late filing and late payment.

The deadline comes as Dubai enters its busiest post-summer business season, with 14 major international events scheduled at Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Exhibition Centre throughout September.

The month opened with Middle East Energy 2026, celebrating its 50th edition from September 1-3 alongside co-located Intersolar Middle East, focusing on energy and renewables. The International Property Show and AIM Congress both run from September 7-9, drawing global investors and real estate professionals.

The Arabian Travel Market, rescheduled from its original May dates, takes place September 14-17, covering aviation, hotels, travel technology, and destination marketing. Seamless Middle East, focusing on fintech and payments, and the Forex Expo Dubai share the September 22-24 slot, rounding out a packed calendar.

‘September 2026 marks the return of a busy business and events season across the United Arab Emirates,’ noted UAE Today. ‘From investment and real estate in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to government communication in Sharjah, cybersecurity, fintech, energy and specialised trade exhibitions, businesses across the UAE have plenty of opportunities to network, discover new markets and build partnerships.’

For companies with December year-ends, the convergence of the tax filing deadline with the busiest trade event month creates both opportunity and administrative pressure. Tax advisers emphasize that the September 30 deadline applies only to December 31 year-end companies, and businesses with other fiscal year-ends have different filing dates calculated from their own year-end.
